Since arriving in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for my internship with the Canadian Urban Institute I have been flooded with questions and queries about life in the land that gets 13 months of sunshine. Counting to ten in Amheric

There is no word for zero, but 'yellum' is used as a substitute. By definition however, 'yellum' means there is nothing and fits loosely as a reference for zero.
